As a nonprofit organization we are proud of our ocean cleanup volunteers and the communities helping to create a cleaner blue ocean by lowering the amount of plastic pollution ending up in the Caribbean. We are learning more about plastic in our ocean and how marine pollution or plastic pollution is traveling down rivers into our ocean and back onto beaches.

The International Coastal Cleanup Day is a global initiative aimed at raising awareness about the importance of keeping coastal and marine environments clean and free from waste. This event takes place annually in various parts of the world, with the goal of engaging the community in the cleaning and conservation of these vital ecosystems.
In the year 2023, the event will take place on September 16th at Rompeolas Beach. This cleanup day is made possible thanks to the support of various sponsors, including FERSAN and other private and governmental institutions, including the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources. The participation of Minister Miguel Ceara in the national-level opening of the event reflects the government's commitment to environmental protection and the promotion of environmental awareness.
Rompeolas Beach, as the venue for this activity, represents a symbolic location where people of different ages and backgrounds come together to join forces in the task of cleaning and rehabilitating the coastal ecosystem. During the event, volunteers and community members will collaborate to collect waste and litter that has ended up on the beach, either through human activity or ocean currents.
This event is not just about picking up trash; it also aims to raise awareness among the population about the quantity and impact of plastic waste and other pollutants in the oceans and coastlines. The accumulation of garbage in these ecosystems threatens marine life, disrupts natural habitats, and negatively impacts the beauty and recreational value of beaches.
In addition to the cleanup itself, the International Coastal Cleanup Day also provides an opportunity to educate people about sustainable consumption practices and the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling to minimize waste generation. The active participation of the community in this event promotes a sense of shared responsibility for environmental care.
In summary, the International Coastal Cleanup Day 2023 at Rompeolas Beach represents a valuable opportunity to come together in the fight against coastal pollution, highlighting collaboration between private institutions, governmental bodies, and civil society in the quest for solutions to preserve our marine and coastal ecosystems for future generations.
It is a family commitment that will include children and is open to the public. It begins at 8:15 a.m. and will conclude at 11:00 a.m.

September has been designated as the month to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our world's beaches and riverbanks. Every year, public and private organizations pool their intentions, ideas, and resources to make the well-being of all coasts a common habit.
"Tony Tirco Org," led by Antonio Tirado Córdova, has made the Breakwater beach of Puerto Rio Haina-FERSAN in Santo Domingo Oeste its headquarters for more than 8 years. Thousands of people have attended these events, thanks to the efforts of dozens of companies, foundations, community groups, movement leaders, and state institutions who have gathered each year to reaffirm their commitment to ensuring a society in which citizens are increasingly aware of the consequences and environmental impact of their small daily actions.
This beach is one of the most important in the country because it attracts and houses various sea turtles. These activities continue to be a wonderful opportunity to engage Dominican society in this vital work. With our efforts and the sponsorship of FERSAN, a Dominican Fertilizer Company, a permanent staff for maintenance and cleaning is maintained throughout the year, successfully reflecting the goal that we promote in the annual cleanup.
This Saturday, September 17, "Tony TirCo Org." will host the national opening of the Beach Cleanup Day for the second year in a row, and will be joined by Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, Miguel Ceara Hatton.
The event will welcome organizations and individuals who wish to represent the Dominican Republic's unwavering commitment to envisioning coasts that demonstrate the value, respect, and care that each Dominican has for their ecosystem.
It is a family commitment that will include children and is open to the public. It begins at 8:15 a.m. and will conclude at 11:00 a.m.
This open invitation is an opportunity to collaborate and involve the children in the care of our natural resources.

Companies like yours know the value of volunteerism when it comes to employee engagement. That engagement can be challenging to come by when employees are remote. Bring them together in a way that fosters positivity and team purpose with skill-based volunteering. We have a variety of ocean cleanup projects based on your desired time frame, all of which can be accomplished from anywhere in the world.
